Face Painting by Cathy

Face painting is a fun and exciting addition to any party.
Cathy Malcolm is a face painter, artist, writer and muralist. I can also provide a disco, arty party, bingo party or glamour make-over party for your child. With face painting, I take pride in making every face as individual as possible. A full face takes approximately 5 - 10minutes, and the quality is of a very high standard. More elaborate designs (unsuitable for large parties) can take up to a quarter of an hour. Time and care are always taken to match the face with clothing or a party theme or a favourite character/story. This is just one of the things that sets me apart from other painters. My artwork ranges from gruesome monsters to the prettiest butterflies.
I don't limit myself to restricted or repetitive designs and will paint anything! However, if you have a favourite character - bring along a picture because I might not know what they look like! I use hypo-allergenic face paints - "Snazaroo", "Grimas" and "Kryolan" - which are easy to remove with warm water or baby wipes. (If in doubt ask for a skin test on the arm) and I have recently discovered the excellent "Wolfe Brothers" paints. I am a fully insured member of F.A.C.E. and I am available for private parties as well as corporate or promotional functions. Here's a recent testimonial: " Just a quick message to say thanks for the fantastic service you gave the girls yesterday. I think you will be the talk of the playground on Monday morning. All of the Mums thought the faces were brilliant and were asking for your contact details." And here's another: "Thank you very much for your time today - both my husband and I were very impressed and the children loved it - they looked great. If ever I am in need of a face painter again you will be first on my list." And one from a Manchester's Urbis Art Gallery: "Just a quick note to say thankyou for the face painting workshop you ran for us. We had very positive responses from all involved! And a big thankyou too for the photos, they're great!" And one from WWF at Whipsnade Zoo: "Thank you very much for all your hard work on the day! The feedback has been fantastic!" And a make-over party: Thank you so much for joining us at Ellie's party last Sunday. She enjoyed it immensely and so did her friends. Also a big thank you for the Photo CD, which is fantastic as we forgot to take photos ourselves ! We have recommended you. Here is a selection of companies for whom I have painted: , Accenture, Argos, ASDA, Affleck's Palace, Bletchley Park, Blue Zebra PR, Borders Bookshop, BMW, Costcutters, The Citizen Newspaper Group, David Lloyd, DHL, Dobbies Garden Centre, Domino's Pizza, Gertronics, Glastonbury Festival 04, 05 and 07! Harvey's Furniture Store, Jeep, John Lewis, Mitzis Hotel Group, Mercedes, Moods Nightclub, MK Theatre, MK Gallery, Nando's Restaurant, Olney River Raft Festival, Optical Express, O2, O-bay, Parklife Festival, Respond, Sainsbury's, Selfridges in London, Silverlink, Scrivens Opticians, The Stables Theatre, Tesco, Thameslink, The Centre MK, Urbis Gallery, Vauxhall, Waterstones, Whipsnade Zoo, Willen Lake, Woburn Safari Park, WWF, MK Xscape and many more... plus don't forget all the countless children's birthday parties, festivals and fetes!
I am a tutor of face painting for ACE - MK council's Adult Education programme and for the last four years I have been one of the official face painters in the Kidz Field at Glastonbury Festival (see above). I will be back at Glastonbury this year in the Kidz field so come and say hello! I also painted at the Harry Potter book launch in July at Waterstones! Basically, I will paint at any kind of event, be it corporate or a home based party, and can put you in touch with extra painters / entertainers for larger events. This year I have accepted bookings for various fetes, corporate events and birthday parties throughout the Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire area, but I still have lots of spaces on my calendar.
I am not completely booked up, so please call if you have an event or party. I don't mind travelling long distances if you pay a bit extra. I am also available as a photographer.
Any child who doesn't want their face painting will instead be offered an arm design or a balloon animal / flower. My collection of face paints and glamour make up is vast! For a certain type of child (and we all know the type I mean) I can even do gory Special Effects make-up such as dripping scars, dropped eyeballs and extended noses! Go on, give me a challenge!
Other party services offered: Laminated 6 x 4 photographs A new and very popular optional feature I now offer at parties is laminated photos. The birthday child gets his/hers for free, then you can buy (arranged in advance or on the day) pictures of the rest of the children for £2.50 each to put in party bags. They have proved incredibly successful - the kids love them, and because they are laminated they will last for years. Parents love them because I am a professional photographer and they get to see how beautiful their children looked before they smeared jelly and cake all over themselves! For this optional feature, I bring my high quality digital camera, portable printer and laminator to the party and print them out in time to put in party bags. Play parachute I have a large multicoloured play parachute for younger children (up to eight years old) and a parachute party involves lots of games. If you want to book me for face painting, I can bring it along and do a few games after the face painting (depends on time and number of children). This involves lots of energetic and exciting activities and games guaranteed to wear them out by home time! I can bring the parachute with me as a free extra!
Airbrushed tattooing Instead of face painting I can offer airbrushed tattooing using a compressor or a compressed air canister. Airbrushed tattooing is very effective, but it is a bit smelly, drippy and noisy and only really suitable for parties or functions with lots of guests (age eight and above). The compressor requires a plug socket and the tattoos last for 6 days. These are very popular with older boys and girls.
Glamour make-over party If your children are aged between seven and twelve, why not hire me for a glamour make-over party? I have a comprehensive range of lipsticks, lip gloss, glitter dust eyeshadow, nail varnish, sparkle hair spray and lashings of glitter in all the latest colours! I can even bring a party cd to listen to while I make-up the children and each child poses for and recieves a laminated photo at the end of the party. An optional extra is the Sinstar Karaoke machine for the other girls to play with while I paint their friends. Arty-party I am a professionally trained artist, so if you want something quieter and more creative than a disco I can entertain your children with an arty-party. Choose from a number of arts and crafts including: pottery painting, a variety of objects children can paint, mask making, sculpting in clay, Pysanky (Ukrainian egg decoration (- this one is messy and involves lit candles, but the results are beautiful), greetings cards (made using pressed flowers or cut-outs, or gems and paint) or puppet making. Arty-parties can also incorporate games or dancing or face painting or drama. Playstation 2 Singstar Karaoke For an additional £20 I can bring along my bright pink Playstation 2 Singstar Karaoke game plus four video CD's for the children to play with while waiting to be face painted / made up. This popular game can be attached to your television and the children sing into microphones and compete with each other to find out who is the best singer! With a choice of over 100 popular songs, this activity never fails to please!

PS: While you're still reading, let me tell you about my paintings! I exhibit regularly with the MKSA and accept commissions. Here's a sample of some oil paintings - Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean, a tornado and a lily! If you're interested, I paint to order.
If you prefer something smaller and cheaper, I can do a sketch, pastel drawing or etching...
Or why not commission a huge fairytale mural as a birthday present? I can work directly on to the wall or paint on to boards or canvas which can be installed in one afternoon...
Now that you've seen what I can do it's up to you how you choose to have fun! Go on - let me help you add a little sparkle to your life! I also do illustrations...
